Someone asked me how I got started here on Drumtable, and I really owe it to my grandson...
I had called my daughter in New York and she was chatting to me about her recent trip to Europe with the kids. Marky, her youngest boy, got on the phone and started telling me about all the fabulous pictures he had taken with his new digital camera at the square at San Marco in Venice with the pigeons flying all around. He’s only twelve, but photography is already an absolute passion with him.

“Why don’t you email me some of the pictures?” I asked him.
“No, the files would be way too big even if I zip them to you and I don’t think your home bandwidth is that great, is it? It’ll take forever for you to download...” He kept talking while I tried to figure out this technical jargon and then he finally said, “Why don’t I just Facebook it to you?”
“Darling, what on earth is that?” I asked.

“It's a site where you put up a profile and network with your friends online, as well as upload your pictures so that you don’t have to email it separately to your friends, all you do is send them the link. Well Yahoo Photos does the same thing and there are other social sites too...” He started to talk more slowly, as if he had just realized he was talking to someone slightly behind the times. "Mom has a profile on a site too… I think it’s high time you got one."

This is hilarious ! but I'm seeing more and more of this on the web. In fact, somebody sent me a t-shirt that said, "I Facebooked Your mom !"
