My eldest grandson was compiling a fun sheet for a class assignment on January being the National Eye Health Care Month and I couldn’t help but laughing at some of the trivia compiled and some of the comments he had written against them – just wanted to share...

* An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain (I know some people like that)

* Camels have three eyelids to protect themselves from blowing sand! (think of the saving on sunglasses!)

* The placement of a donkey's eyes in its head enables it to see all four feet at all times! (so, no making faces at the back over there…)

* Fish that live more than 800 meters below the ocean surface don't have eyes (totally weird!)

* Ancient Egyptians shaved off their eyebrows and eyelashes to mourn the deaths of their cats (I like cats too but…)

* It's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open (I tried it folks and it's true)

* In 1793 an infant girl with a single eye in the center of her forehead was born to M. and Mme. Clement, in Tourcoing, France. Aside from this deformity, the girl was physically normal and lived to be 15 (I’d hate to think of her playground nickname!)

* To escape the grip of a crocodile's jaws, push your thumbs into its eyeballs -- it will let you go instantly (let's hope you never have to put this one to the test...)
